Wild Blue Yonder

The fabulous Naomi of Arthelia's Attic sent me one of her classic snoods in the newest color available--bright royal blue. As always, her snoods are well made and the perfect finishing touch to a vintage outfit!

Witchcraft

A couple of weeks ago, the Collings Foundation's collection of WWII-era aircraft made two stops in Arizona, and Doug Monce and I took a trip out to the Scottsdale Airpark to shoot some photos with these amazing warbirds.  We'd been invited out by the Arizona Ground Crew for a photo op, and although the day was unseasonably chilly and windy (so windy I was ready to go back inside after five minutes, thank goodness I wore one of my snoods from Arthelia's Attic or my hair would have been unfit for photos in mere seconds), we had a great time checking out the airplanes and chatting with some of the other attendees.  I even got to sit in the cockpit of the B-24 "Witchcraft"--it was no small feat climbing up there wearing a dress, stockings, and heels, but oh so worth it (and thankfully, free of any stocking casualties!)

Makeup Mondays--Triple Roll Delight

Today's Makeup Monday post is all about victory rolls! In this video created by Atomic Age Pictures I demonstrate how I create my favorite triple rolled style, which I like to call the "Triple Roll Delight". I hope you enjoy it!

Snoodie Little Cutie

I recently had the opportunity to model two more of the wonderful snoods made by Naomi of Arthelia's Attic, this time in rich chocolate and bright turquoise. Naomi's classic snood style, trimmed with a removable grosgrain bow, is about the cutest, simplest way to dress up your 'do in flawless 1940s style! I wear her snoods on a regular basis, and loved coming up with outfits to showcase these two! The brown is the perfect shade for fall, but as you can see, it looks equally at home paired with a summery tropical style: A Hawaiian print linen dress made from an early 40s pattern by Vee Vintage, brown and white 40s platforms, and bamboo and Bakelite jewelry. The turquoise is definitely fiesta ready--here I paired it with a soft pink linen 40s dress and cream linen heels--but it also looks smashing with warm autumn shades as well (especially chocolate brown). Both are must-have colors for any season, and she offers the same style in a number of other fetching colors as well--you're guaranteed to find a match for every outfit in your closet. Summer Fashions in Shocking Pink

Arthelia's Attic recently created another custom snood for me, this one done up in a delightfully bright shade of pink perfect for summer! This low, open style gathers your hair off your neck while leaving the crown of your head bare; grosgrain ribbon ties hold the netting in place (a couple of bobby pins keep it nice and secure.) I can't recommend Naomi's designs enough, she does a wonderful job and is always willing to customize her designs to suit your wishes!

Doug Monce and I braved the sweltering Arizona weather to shoot a few photos at a local park. I swear it felt like 1000 degrees that day, but luckily, I look as cool as a cucumber in the photos!

From the Factory to the Hollywood Canteen

When it came to wartime glamour, snoods were a fantastic way of keeping your locks neat while staying perfectly stylish. And a big big thanks to Naomi of Arthelia's Attic for crocheting such wonderful designs that are always a treat to wear and model!
