Makeup Mondays--Rita Hayworth

For this week's installment of Makeup Mondays, I thought it would be fun to do a vintage beauty how-to based on a color photo of the amazing Rita Hayworth. She has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and I know many of you are fans of hers as well!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the article--would you like to see more beauty breakdowns for other stars? If so, please let me know who you'd like to see included!

Amanda Lee

  1. She's lovely- I love learning about applying makeup vintage style and could use all of the help I can get. Happy New Year-
    Marie @ Lemondrop ViNtAge

  2. I base my hair and make up on this lady daily...Nice post...

  3. I love Rita Hayworth too. She had a great face for make-up and transformation. Because she had so many different hairstyles and colors, naturally, she had to change her make-up as well. My favorite periods of hers are the technicolor of MY GAL SAL (1942) and the black and white of GILDA (1946). Essentially pin-up girl and femme fatale.

  4. How amazing - Rita was the first biography I ever read of an old movie star. She was so beautiful and tragic. I've always wanted to look like her. I'm going to follow this breakdown for work tomorrow!

How about Lana Turner in The Postman Always Rings Twice or Ziegfeld Girl? She was a knockout!

  5. Hi Amanda! Thank you for another wonderful makeup post! I also would love to see a post about Hedy Lamarr's makeup (I think she has cool base colors that are mine as well).

In your earlier articles, you talked about Coty Airspun powder and I would love to try it. I know that they have 14 shades available but where? I tried on internet and can't find a site listing them all... Can you recommend a particular place?

    Thank you so much!

  6. There's an award for you at my blog!!

  7. i love rita hayworth. so much. tell us about her magic!

  8. I would love to see more tutorials like this! Rita Hayworth is such an icon to me, I really appreciate what you've done here.

  9. brilliant idea!

Would you consider a Jean Harlow or a Ginger Rogers post?

    Happy New Year!

  10. I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed this article! Thank you for the suggestions; I will definitely add them to my list of starlets :-)

Black Opal--Try Amazon; that's where I ordered mine (Rachel No.1, which is a pale cream.) However, I don't know if any site sells the complete line of shades; I'll do a bit of research and get back to you :-)

    Thank you, Pink Champagne!

  11. I wouldn't find your email address so I'm leaving you a comment here. Would you mind if I re-posted the Rita make-up tutorial on my Rita tribute, www.rita-hayworth.net? I understand if your answer is no but thought I'd check just in case. :)

  12. I don't mind at all, Riikka! You've done a wonderful job with your tribute site, and I'm pleased as can be that you'll be including my tutorial :-)
