From the Factory to the Hollywood Canteen

When it came to wartime glamour, snoods were a fantastic way of keeping your locks neat while staying perfectly stylish. And Arthelia's Attic offers some of the best snoods around--with several styles and plenty of colors to choose from, it's a sure bet you'll find the perfect match for every outfit in your closet! This particular snood is a customized design she created for me--I blogged about it when I first received it, but never wore it for a proper photoshoot--until now, that is! With its elegant lines and beading accents, I thought it was perfect for a Hollywood glamour look, shot by the always amazing Doug Monce of Atomic Age Pictures. And a big big thanks to Naomi of Arthelia's Attic for crocheting such wonderful designs that are always a treat to wear and model!

A Little Intrigue

Sharing just a taste of yesterday's shoot with Atomic Age Pictures--a full "reveal" (which showcases my custom Arthelia's Attic snood) will come tomorrow! This little teaser shows off my new favorite shoes, a gift from my dear friend Annie; you can't see them too well in this photo, but they are fabulous green and blue plaid baby doll pumps!

Strawberry Shortcake

Just a little teaser pic from a recent shoot with Matt Carson! We spent an afternoon in Jerome and took a short jaunt through the town Cottonwood on the way back. This photo was taken in front of a retro diner housed in a former gas station. The diner was sadly closed, but we took a few photos outside. We'll definitely be heading back to check it out again!

I'm wearing a 1940s strawberry print jersey playsuit that I snapped up several years ago. It's a treasured piece of mine that I love wearing :-)

Hula-la!

A few weeks ago, artist Zach Cohen contacted Doug to ask our permission to use a few of our photos as reference for a painting he had in mind. Of course we said yes, and I was delighted when I saw his finished work! Zach's artwork has a very unique style, and he does a wonderful job of capturing his subjects. Sock Hop at the 5 & Diner

Last Friday my Sweetie's band performed at a sock hop event hosted by the Savoy Hop Cats at a retro Phoenix diner. The event went off without a hitch--there was a big crowd with plenty of swing dancers, a bevy of classic cars, and waitresses serving up food and ice cream treats (great music, dancing, and milkshakes? That's what I call a winning combination!) Midway through the event, Brenda Lee hosted a swimsuit contest--and I won! I wore a black 1950s swimsuit trimmed with white beading that I found at Matilda's Closet along with a pair of retro satin mules. For the rest of the event, I wore a tropical print reproduction dress from the fab Blue Velvet Vintage and my fave white 40s heels, which are surprisingly comfortable to dance in.
