the dress is adorable.....your hair is amazing
ReplyDeleteWow Amanda! You look great in these pictures, as always I must add! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of haircut do you have here? Is it layered or U-shaped? or neither of the two? or both? Is it layred just in the front?
I am overdue for a haircut and looking for something like yours actually because it is not too long, but long enough for victory rolls and curling, I think.
Thank you,
Maria
Thank you for the kind words!
ReplyDeleteMaria-my hair is cut in allover layers, with the shortest pieces at the front reaching my cheekbones. It's not U-shaped in the back, thought it is slightly rounded. This is my favorite length as it takes to curling well, and holds the sets/styles very well too. I love the look of longer styles, but as my hair is fairly straight, I find that it becomes much harder to manage once it grows past a certain length!
Thank you, Amanda!
ReplyDeletehow long is it in the back when it is straigt?
Does the pattern of layers resemble the Middy in some ways?
Maria
It's a couple of inches past my shoulders when straight. The cut is similar to the Middy but the layers are a bit longer. I don't believe it is cut in the elongated U-shape in the back though; my previous stylist, who trained in the 60s (he's since retired, sadly) advised me not to have it cut that way as it would be harder to manage, and I’ve never shown my current stylist this specific cut. I find bringing in photos from the era to illustrate the look you are trying to achieve helps a lot. :-) And of course setting technique also makes a difference in how the cut ends up looking. To achieve those fluffy 40s curls I use small foam rods (perm rods work great too) rolled under (and towards the face at the sides); so long as my hair has enough layers I find that the sets take quite well. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the classic middy would be a lot harder to manage -- it has so many shorter pieces all over. I think I will ask for something similar to yours.
I am so glad I can ask you these questions here, because by the time I discovered The Fedora Lounge you were no longer there... :((
Thanks again
Maria
I'm so glad I can be of help! Perhaps when you get your new cut you can post a picture :-)
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Amanda
