Yesterday I wore one of my favorite 40s suit jackets--a turquoise rayon affair trimmed in faux leopard. It has great early 40s styling and--it's turquoise! And trimmed in leopard! The only thing that could possibly make it any better would be if it had its original skirt. Luckily I have a plethora of black skirts in my closet to wear with it ;-)
1940s turquoise rayon suit jacket trimmed with faux leopard
Black rayon bias-cut skirt
Wide black patent belt
Twolips black patent slingback heels
1940s Bakelite drop circle earrings
And as always, Lip Ink Red lipstick
Very cute! I have a leopard beret that would look smashing with that!

Just love the detailing on that jacket, so sweet!
ReplyDeleteThanks, ladies!
ReplyDeleteI might need to borrow that beret sometime, Syd ;-)
That jacket is to die for! It couldn't be more perfect...
ReplyDeletewow, what a perfect jacket!
ReplyDeleteMeow!
ReplyDeleteAwhile back you posted a great amount of information on The Fedora Lounge about color combinations popular in the 1940s. I've searched and searched and I can never find what I'm looking for there. Do you happen to have that available? If you do, would you mind posting it? Thanks for your time!
ReplyDeleteGolly, I hope you know that you own my dream jacket. ;]
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning.

Thanks again, everyone! I have to say it really is my favorite jacket; it's glamorous and fun at the same time :-)
ReplyDeleteTrixie--I don't have that post saved, but I can work on a new one for you :-)
Thanks Amanda! I appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had saved it!
What an adorable jacket! I love it! Your blog is great! I am now a follower. Take care, Kori xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kori--I checked out your blog and am now a follower as well :-)
ReplyDeleteI have that same jacket! It is even the same color, but with grey fur that looks sort of smashed in different directions (nice still). I have the skirt and belt too. I used to wear it but now it's too small, perhaps I should put a photo of it on the cookie jar so I can fit it again. ;-) I also saw it in a magazine from 1949 but in another color.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!!
I'd love to see a photo of your suit, Betty--it sounds fab! I wish I had the matching skirt and belt for mine :-)
