Outfit of the Day
Today my Sweetie and I took an impromptu trip to Flagstaff for a change of scenery. We enjoyed wandering around town and strolling through a historic neighborhood; we even found time to stop at a vintage store, where I found a terrific double-breasted 40s suit jacket for $5!
I wore a red and white gingham cotton blouse from F21, a pair of 50s denim jeans (eBay), a red leather belt (thrifted), Rocket Originals "Esther" wedges, a bakelite cherries brooch (eBay), and red celluloid and rhinestone button earrings (found at a local antique store).
And here's a closeup of the cherries brooch for Angel--I wore the one in the center :-)

Good blog.
ReplyDeleteFab find, the suit!!!
ReplyDeleteI love those wedges on you!
Great outfit - it's casual but you still look glamorous.

I love the look! I'd love to see a close-up of that broach!!!
ReplyDeleteI have that blouse!!! I almost wore it yesterday too! I love the jeans!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words!
ReplyDeleteI love the blouse--it's super cute and was so inexpensive. And I love that 1940s-50s cuffed jeans are casual but look so polished :-)
Such a cute outfit and that sounds like such a good deal you found!
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely, I have the same cheeries brooch on the left of the pic, mine started out with 3 cherries (from the original, what, 6?) but now only has two :(
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ms. B! I'll post photos of the jacket soon :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, mine met the same fate! It started with five or six cherries, and now has three; I don't wear it anymore as it's too fragile, but I'd love to find someone to repair it. Also, the wooden cherry brooch on the right and center cherry brooch both have lost the wax coating on their 'stems'; I'd love to find out how to repair this as well. I've seen it touched up with green paint, but that doesn't look quite right :-(
ReplyDeleteNot sure if my last comment successfully sent (also it was worded weirdly, so feel free to delete): translation: I love everything about that outfit. You make gingham glamorous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet comment, LandGirl :-)
ReplyDeleteRed really suits you..
ReplyDeleteLove these jeans and the waist emphasizing belt! You look amazing in red!
ReplyDeleteSo sweetly beautiful! My first thought was what a perfect First of July look this would be (something about the combo of crisp red and cheery blue made me think of Independence Day), but really, it works any day of the year! :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a gorgeous week,
♥ Jessica
I agree with an above comment- red does suit you well! And Flagstaff is a lovely place to escape to, especially this time of year!
ReplyDeleteThanks again, ladies!
ReplyDeleteRed is definitely one of my favorite colors, and I wear it a lot :-)
Flagstaff was a nice change, though they say it's supposed to start cooling down a bit now. We'll see :-)
